Donald, this is your Planetary Profile, an astrological analysis of your personality and unique potential. It is divided into three sections: firstly, at the beginning is your birth-chart, which is essentially a map of the solar system drawn up for the moment of your birth; secondly is Planetary Information showing details of your birth-chart, which you will find useful if you take your study of astrology further. Lastly, the Analysis which follows this introduction is a detailed interpretation of the birth-chart, looking at the meaning of each planet in turn, their sign and house position and their relationship to the other planets. The intensity of the relationship between planets is indicated by the number of highlighted stars.
Whilst reading your Planetary Profile, you may come across sections that appear to contradict each other. This is because people are complex and often behave quite differently in differing circumstances. It's also because the various factors of your birth-chart are given equal weighting, whereas in reality some factors will take precedence over others.
Astrologers believe that our character, and the events that occur within our lives, are influenced by the pattern of the planets at the moment of our birth. However, as with the genetic and cultural influences that we are all subject to, within this framework we are still able to exercise free will and make creative choices. Astrology is a little like the weather - it can influence our actions (for example we might cancel a picnic if we know it is going to rain!), but it doesn't force us to do anything, merely inclines. We can also choose to live an unexamined life, following habitual patterns and taking the easiest options, or we can decide that we have a meaningful destiny and something unique and of value to contribute to the world.
Your Planetary profile is designed to stimulate your interest in this universal, symbolic language, and give you a deeper understanding of your motivations, challenges and strengths.

The Sun, Moon and Ascendant (situated in the Rising Sign) are the central elements of your horoscope, and from just these three points a clear picture of yourself can be gained. The Sun represents the Essential You - your ego and conscious self, whilst the Moon represents the Inner You - your feelings and emotional needs. Like light and shade, they are complementary principles, the one balancing the other. It is often the case that men are more comfortable embodying their Sun sign, and women their Moon sign, but to be truly whole people, both need to be developed and understood as integral parts of oneself.
The Ascendant on the other hand symbolises your outward personality, your physical appearance and how others see you, which may be quite different from how you really are.
The following pages look at these three central elements of your horoscope, the signs of the zodiac they were in at the moment of your birth, their house positions, and the way they integrate with the other elements of your birthchart.
The SUN symbolises the ESSENTIAL SELF; the WILL; CONSCIOUSNESS; GROWTH; the EGO; LIBIDO; OBJECTIVITY; INDIVIDUALITY; WHOLENESS; and the SPIRIT. It is the MASCULINE PRINCIPLE in contrast to that symbolised by the MOON. It is personified by RULERS; LEADERS; PUBLIC FIGURES; the FAMOUS; and PERSONALITIES.
In the horoscope it is the point where we shine and are most ourselves. It also symbolises how we experience (or experienced) our father, or dominant parent. The sign and house in which it is found, together with the aspects it makes to other planets show our primary orientation towards life; the area of life in which we put forth our best energies; and how our ego integrates with the rest of our psyche. The relative strength or weakness of the sun shows the strength or otherwise of our ego and the extent to which we manifest our potential individuality.
Sun in Gemini
KEYWORDS: ARTICULATE; CLEVER; NERVOUS; FRIENDLY; FUNNY; MANY INTERESTS; CHANGEABLE; SUPERFICIAL; VERBAL; SOCIABLE; WITTY; ADAPTABLE; MOBILE; LOVES COMMUNICATION.
Your SUN is in GEMINI, and this indicates that you are essentially a friendly, sociable and talkative person. You enjoy contact with other people and the exchange of ideas and news that this involves. You can be very restless and need constant variety to stimulate your alert mind, which is why you usually have several projects or activities on the go at the same time. You love all forms of communication, be it through the spoken or the written word, and will often chat to people for hours on end. You are eternally curious and read a great deal, probably excelling at languages, for which reason you would make a good teacher, writer, or do well in any job that requires communication skills. At times you scatter yourself too thinly and run the risk of superficiality and of merely skating on the surface of life, losing sight of what is real and enduring.
You make an excellent friend however, and know the secret of popularity - which is to be interesting to talk to as well as giving other people a chance to talk about themselves. It must be said though that it can be difficult to stop some Geminis rabbiting on (especially those with a strong accent on Gemini and/or Mercury in their birthcharts)! You are usually an excellent conversationalist however, and with your ready wit you usually sparkle in company. You find it difficult to relax much of the time and are frequently a bundle of nerves. You are probably highly mobile and spend a great deal of time on short journeys. Planes, trains and automobiles may be a passion!
Sun in the 10th House
KEYWORDS: AMBITIOUS; SUCCESSFUL; CAREER IMPORTANT; AUTHORITY; SEEKS RECOGNITION; PERSEVERANCE; DEDICATION; HARD WORKING; RESPONSIBLE; GOAL-ORIENTATED; EXECUTIVE OR MANAGERIAL ABILITY.
Your SUN is in the TENTH HOUSE of your horoscope, which means that your identity is intimately bound up with, and that you are at your best in, positions of authority and responsibility in the world. You have a strong urge to be recognised for your achievements, and to an extent you want to 'be somebody'. You are ambitious, self-motivated and set clear goals for yourself. You want success, honour and even fame, and with the Sun in this house you may get indeed get them. You are adept at presenting yourself in the right way to people and confident of your eventual rise to prominence, a factor that draws the attention of those in a position to benefit your career. Your parents may have had great expectations of you, but you may find it necessary in adulthood to distinguish your own real goals and priorities from those given to you by your parents. You may have wanted, and possibly still want, to please your parents as you felt more loved when you were successful, got top marks at school etc. You are capable of handling responsibility and are vitalised by your work or career. You enjoy wielding power, but you should bear in mind the accountability of people in positions of authority. It is likely that you are quite well known and respected, be it on a large or small scale.
Sun Opposes Moon
KEYWORDS: POLARITY; OBJECTIVITY; INNER CONFLICT; PARENTAL CONFLICTS; INTEGRATION; BALANCE; CONTRADICTORY; FERTILITY; COMPLETENESS.
Your SUN is OPPOSITE THE MOON, showing that your outer and inner self are like complementary opposites. This aspect can manifest in many ways. For example, you might regard your work life as completely separate from your private life, and strive to maintain a distance between the two. Or you may often feel pulled in two different directions, as though your head always wanted one thing, but your heart another. For example, you may consciously strive toward goals you have set yourself, yet not feel satisfied when having achieved them. You may even unconsciously sabotage your own plans. For example, have you ever given a bad impression at a job interview, only to realise later that you had not wanted the job anyway? You were unconsciously ensuring that you would not be offered the job. Another possibility is that you might feel that the outer circumstances of your life, such as work, social position, marriage, home, are not really fulfilling your deeper needs, and that you are maintaining them either for the sake of appearances or duty.
Almost as a symbol of the polarity that exists within you, your perception of the relationship between your parents may have been, especially when you were young, that they were often in conflict, or that they were two very different people.
With this aspect you need to make a conscious effort to understand both sides of your nature - the masculine and feminine, inner and outer, conscious aims and emotional needs, mind and feelings, ego and unconscious. Reconciling, integrating and balancing yourself in this way requires self-observation and self-acceptance, and leads to wisdom, growth and creativity. You were born at the time of the Full Moon, a time of fertility, completion and harvest, when the light of inner realisation is at its brightest.
Sun Sextiles Mars
KEYWORDS: ACTIVE; COURAGEOUS; POSITIVE; CAMARADERIE; ENERGETIC; MALE BONDING; LIVELY.
Your Sun is SEXTILE MARS, which means that there is a harmony between your ego and your ability to assert yourself. You have a lot of energy and enjoy physical activity, sport, sex, and otherwise exerting yourself. You are assertive, and like to get what you want. However, you are not overly aggressive or threatening to other people, since you express your desires in an open, healthy manner. Energetic co-operation gives you great satisfaction, and you like the feeling of camaraderie that acting with others gives you. You will defend yourself if necessary, both physically or mentally, and you can act with great courage when necessary. You do not like to be forced to submit to someone else's will, and are prepared to fight to maintain your honour. You have good leadership abilities and are capable of taking the initiative in demanding situations. You respect gentleness and try to defend those who are the victims of injustice or hurt.
Sun Trines Jupiter
KEYWORDS: HAPPY; EXPANSIVE; OUT-GOING; OPTIMISTIC; BUOYANT; SUCCESSFUL; CREATIVE; GOOD-HUMOURED; CHEERFUL; EASY-GOING; GOOD HEALTH; ADVANCEMENT; LUCKY; POSITIVE; WEALTHY; HONOURABLE; HUMANE; SELF-INDULGENT; RECOGNISED; HIGH AIMS; TOLERANT; MORAL; JOYFUL; SELF-INDULGENT; WELL TRAVELLED; WISE; RELIGIOUS; PHILOSOPHICAL ATTITUDE TO LIFE; ALTRUISTIC; SELF-CONFIDENT; GENEROUS; POPULAR; HONEST; LEARNING; TEACHING; WASTEFUL; OPPORTUNITIES.
Your SUN is TRINE JUPITER, which means that you experience a harmony between your ego and your ideals. You were brought up to have faith in yourself and to believe that life is full of opportunity. This fundamentally optimistic approach to life has given you the confidence to succeed, and the positivity to realise that you can learn a great deal from obstacles and setbacks. You are relaxed about life, and more interested in the broad perspective than in struggling for status, money or power. For this reason too, questions of philosophy, religion and culture are likely to interest you greatly and perhaps be the subject of study. You love learning and you actively seek out new experiences, for which reason you are likely to travel far and wide, having many adventures and making many contacts with foreign cultures. You believe that things will turn out well for you, and they often do. Fun is always high on your agenda, and you make plenty of space for relaxation, pleasure and entertainment. You can be irresponsible at times, since you dislike rules and restrictions, but rarely to the extent of deliberately offending people. Your openness, good humour and positivity ensure that you get on well with most types of person, from whatever background they come.
You are suited to work that requires creativity, vision and initiative, and that offers plenty of scope for variety, travel or interaction with different types of people. You are good at initiating new projects and spotting opportunities, less so at managing day-to-day tasks or being involved in detailed planning. You can be lazy about capitalising on your potential.
Sun Conjuncts Uranus
KEYWORDS: INDIVIDUAL; EXCITING; WILFUL; PROGRESSIVE; REFORMING; REVOLUTIONARY SPIRIT; REBELLIOUS; INVENTIVE; ECCENTRIC; ALIENATED; ORIGINALITY; TECHNICAL; DYNAMIC; RESTLESS; ANARCHIC; DOMINEERING; SHOCKING; RADICAL; CONTRADICTORY; CHANGEABLE; UNPREDICTABLE; GENIUS; SELF-AWARE; IMPATIENT; INTUITION; CREATIVE; SCIENCE; IMPULSIVE; ELECTRIC; INDEPENDENT; INSPIRED; ERRATIC; UNCONVENTIONAL; UNORTHODOX; LOVE OF THE NEW; NERVOUS; EGOCENTRIC; HUMANITARIAN; THE HIGHER MIND.
Your SUN is CONJUNCT URANUS, indicating that you are a highly individualistic and progressive person. You prefer to think and experience for yourself, and do not accept the prevailing social, political or scientific assumptions without question. New ideas, new trends, the latest inventions and discoveries excite you, and many of your beliefs and attitudes may seem highly unconventional or even eccentric, although it is often the case that they are simply ahead of their time, and other people just haven't caught up yet. You are not afraid to be thought of as different from the norm - in fact you may rather enjoy shocking people by challenging culturally accepted stereotypes, for instance those connected with race, class, gender or sexuality. Your lifestyle may be a bold expression of your individuality, especially if the Fire element is emphasised in your birthchart, or there is an aspect between Sun/Uranus and the Ascendant, Moon, or Midheaven. Alienation, the challenge of being true to one's own vision, and the coming to terms with one's unique identity, are likely to be three key themes in your life.
You believe strongly in the principle of human freedom, and are outspoken in its defence. You strongly resist being trammelled either in your personal relationships or your wider relationships, and are no respecter of authority for its own sake.
Essentially progressive in your attitude to life, you have many diverse interests in such areas as technology, science, politics, modern art and culture. You love excitement, and your life frequently undergoes radical changes and shifts in direction. Sometimes in your enthusiasm for the new, you tend to ditch the old completely, but later regret having been so dismissive of those aspects of your life that were, after all, working. You have a dynamic, electric quality that magnetises people's attention and draws them to you. You often function as a catalyst in peoples lives, consciously or otherwise prompting them to grow and see life from hitherto unsuspected perspectives, or simply being an agent of change for them. You have an acute social awareness, and are not afraid to stand up and press for reform or political or intellectual change. In fact you may be outspokenly political, even revolutionary.
You are suited to work or employment that demands challenging levels of creativity, imagination, and flexibility, and which allows the freedom to set your own goals and work at your own pace. The arts, scientific research, high technology, politics, education, therapy or training are all areas in which such work can be found. You are primarily a visionary and an innovator, and need to be in an environment where such qualities are recognised, valued, and rewarded. Routine or menial work frustrates you and under-utilises your potential, prompting you to express your dissatisfaction through agitation, rebellion or simply by quitting. Self-employment might be an appropriate option for your talents, and would allow your entrepreneurial skills to flourish. Finally for this aspect, your father (symbolised by the Sun), may be unusual, different or even eccentric in some way - or at least, this is how you perceive him. Your relationship to him is likely to be highly changeable, erratic and unreliable, though for the most part you regard him as a friend, rather than an authority-figure.
Sun Conjuncts North Node
KEYWORDS: INDIVIDUALITY; LEADERSHIP POTENTIAL; CREATIVITY; POPULARITY; PUBLIC; INTELLECTUAL ASSOCIATIONS; ABILITY TO PERFORM ON A HIGH LEVEL.
Your SUN is CONJUNCT the MOON'S (NORTH) NODE, indicating that your ego is closely linked to your inner potential. You have the ability to make an impact on the world through developing your individuality and unique talents. You may have had, perhaps since childhood, a keen awareness of being talented or gifted in a particular direction. Others, your family in particular, may have seen you as 'the golden child' who was destined to succeed. Your talents, as indicated by the Moon's North Node, may be the focus of your life to the extent that your identity is clearly bound up with them. In other words, who you are is a reflection of what makes you special and unique. To be so closely identified with a special gift has its rewards and its dangers however. The pressure to 'perform' must be great, for one's self-esteem rests on being able to express one's talent well. Needless to say, such pressure can cause great stress, and affect other areas of life such as one's relationships. There is the danger too of hubris or pride - the belief that one is godlike, superior or invulnerable. Or like Icarus, whose wax wings melted when he flew too close to the sun, one can sometimes forget one's natural limitations and aim too high, with a consequent fall to earth. The rewards are great however, and may include fame, wealth and success, but perhaps the greatest reward of all is that of living a full, rich and interesting life.
Personal growth is an important theme in your life, and you are highly aware of your strengths and weaknesses as an individual. To you, self-knowledge is more than a cliché, it is a lifelong aim. You strive to maximise your potential by expanding your knowledge and repertoire of skills. At the same time, you do your best to overcome personal limitations or fears. Be careful not to become too self-obsessed - instead, use your experience and understanding of the growth process to help others move forward on their paths.
The Moon symbolises protective urges, the unconscious mind, emotion, the home, feeling, reflection, instinctual responses, the family, rhythm, self-image, heredity, and nurturing. It represents the feminine principle, and complements the Sun. It is personified by the mother, wife, women in general, supportive figures, and those who protect.
In the birthchart it is the point that reveals what makes us feel most secure, and the qualities, activities or things that we need in order to feel good about ourselves and to have a more flowing response to life.
The Moon also symbolises how we experience our own mother (or most nurturing parent), and the type of home life we create. The sign and house in which it is found, together with the aspects the Moon makes to other planets, show our unconscious orientation towards life, the area of life in which we are most at home, and how our feelings are integrated with the rest of the psyche. The relative strength or weakness of the Moon shows the extent to which we feel in touch with sources of internal or external security.
Moon in Sagittarius
KEYWORDS: JOVIAL; GOOD-HUMOURED; FRANK; OPEN; RESTLESS; IDEALISTIC; OPTIMISTIC; WELL TRAVELLED; HOME ABROAD; LOVES LEARNING; NEEDS MEANING.
Your MOON is in SAGITTARIUS, which shows that you are emotionally restless, and have a strong need for personal freedom. Like the other fire-sign moons (Aries and Leo) you are big-hearted, lively and generous. Your good humour and easygoing nature makes it easy for you to make friends wherever you are. Part of you experiences life as a journey, and you feel good as long as you are in motion and on the move, free from other peoples' emotional demands, beliefs or actions. Truth is also important to you, although you want to find it out for yourself rather than being told it by someone else. Occasionally, your frank and honest attitude can give rise to bluntness and wounding honesty, particularly if you are emotionally aroused.
Marriage and long-term relationships can occasionally be difficult for you precisely because of your need for freedom and variety. Also, you tend to enter into affairs impulsively and optimistically, but your enthusiasm is sometimes short-lived. In general though, you experience more than your share of good fortune, possibly due to your faith in life's bounty. If ever hurt, your positive attitude enables you to bounce back quickly. You love travel, especially abroad, and may even decide to live far from the country of your birth. Some with this Moon sign fantasise about living 'on the road' - for example in a camper van, a boat or a gypsy wagon! You love the outdoor life, and the feeling of freedom and independence that comes with it.
Moon in the 4th House
KEYWORDS: DEPTH OF FEELING; NEEDS EMOTIONAL SECURITY; RICH HOME LIFE; FAMILY TIES; PARENTHOOD; CHERISHING; NURTURING; LOVE OF MOTHER; SMOTHERED; CARING; HABITUAL; DOMESTIC; STABLE; THE PAST; CHILDHOOD IMPORTANT.
Your MOON is in the FOURTH HOUSE of your horoscope, meaning that you need a stable home life in order to feel emotionally secure. Your family is central to your life, and knowing that you are loved gives you inner peace. Problems that occurred in your relationship to your parents in childhood or infancy may with this house position of the Moon still linger in your unconscious mind and affect you even now. For instance, if you felt unloved then, you may feel a great need for a parent/child relationship in your loves or within marriage, which can obviously give rise to problems. Similarly, if your early home life did not give you the sense of security that you needed, you may search for a place or even a country where you can feel that you belong. You can be a very private person, and your home is very much a safe haven from the pressures of the outside world. When 'things get tough', you tend to go back to the places you have loved and felt happiest in. You think about the past a great deal and consequently may have a love of such subjects as history or archaeology. You can be very caring and kind to people, especially those who are unhappy or in pain, and people in need of help or reassurance seem instinctively to turn to you for support. Parental approval may be important to you, but you should learn to sometimes say no to them if they are too demanding.
Moon Trines Mars
KEYWORDS: EMOTIONAL STRENGTH; TOUGHNESS; FORCE; HONESTY; GUTS; ENTERPRISING; ENERGETIC; SINCERE; ENTHUSIASM; PURPOSEFUL; FRANK; STRONG FEELINGS/WILL; VIGOUR; PROTECTIVE; COURAGEOUS; ROBUST; ACTIVE INVOLVEMENT; ASSERTIVE; IMPATIENT; RESTLESS; BUSY; FIGHTING SPIRIT; HEATED.
Your MOON is TRINE MARS, meaning that there is a harmony between your emotions and your capacity to assert yourself. You instinctively and naturally meet life in a courageous, straightforward manner. You are direct, open, and express your feelings honestly and frankly with people, and people know where they stand with you. You are not unduly aggressive or overly self-assertive, but neither are you afraid to fight if you, or something that you value, is threatened. You have an emotional strength that allows you to withstand adversity with fortitude and bravery. When encountering obstacles, or experiencing difficulties in life, your reaction is to actively do something about it rather than succumb to helplessness or passive acceptance. Your emotions are intense, and you can be passionate with those you are close to. You get on well with people who appreciate your vigour and gutsy energy (which may be a little too much for more delicate souls). You are hardworking, particularly if you are doing it for the sake of your family. You are generally highly active, and prefer to keep yourself busy rather than do little.
Moon Sextiles Jupiter
KEYWORDS: WARM; FRIENDLY; GOOD-HUMOURED; LIKED; CHEERFUL; GOOD RELATIONSHIP TO MOTHER; GOOD HOME; SYMPATHETIC; DOMESTIC HARMONY; HONEST; GENUINE; SINCERE; HAPPY WOMEN; IMAGINATIVE.
Your MOON is SEXTILE JUPITER, meaning that your feelings harmonise with your ideals. People like you because you are sincere and generally cheerful. Your childhood is likely to have been happy, and your relationship to your parents, especially your mother, good. This has given you a sense of inner security, born of the knowledge that there is always someone to turn to for support if you ever need it. You are instinctively honest and appreciate this quality in others. You are tolerant of people's failings and are prepared to give them a second chance if they let you down. People sometimes look to you for sympathy or to have their spirits lifted. Your home is probably a friendly, lively and comfortable place to live in.
Moon Opposes Uranus
KEYWORDS: HIGHLY-STRUNG; INDIVIDUALISTIC; OBSTREPEROUS;STUBBORN; UNPREDICTABLE OR EXTREME REACTIONS; UNUSUAL INTERESTS; SELF-WILLED; INNER TENSIONS; NEED FOR COMPLETE INDEPENDENCE; RESTLESS; DISRUPTIONS IN THE HOME OR FAMILY; ANXIOUS; REFORMING; UNSTABLE; SUDDEN MOOD OR ATTITUDE CHANGES; ALIENATED; FREQUENT CHANGES OF RESIDENCE; EASILY BORED; NEED FOR CHANGE AND STIMULATION; TEMPERAMENTAL; QUICK; INTELLIGENT; DIFFICULTIES WITH WOMEN; RADICAL WOMEN; UNUSUAL MOTHER; INSECURE; DISLIKE OF BEING TIED-DOWN.
Your MOON is OPPOSITE URANUS, indicating that you experience a conflict between your emotions and family life on the one hand, and your individuality and desire for freedom on the other. Your childhood may have been punctuated by frequent changes of residence or by disruptions within the family, and this may have had an unsettling and possibly destabilising effect on your developing psyche. Even now, you could find it hard to feel that you can rely on the emotional support of those close to you, or to fully trust the world in general. Your mother in particular may have been, or at least may have seemed to you to have been, unreliable, erratic or highly changeable in her feelings towards you. If this was the case you may also be prone to anxiety or inner tension, for what should have been a stable and supportive relationship was in fact prone to be ultimately unreliable. On the other hand she may be, or have been markedly individualistic, self-aware or endearingly eccentric, in which case the relationship may have been less problematic, although not especially close.
Your relationships sometimes suffer from a fear of committing yourself to something that may not last, and from a strong need for personal freedom and 'space'. You hate to be smothered or restricted by partners, and may abruptly end a love-affair, partnership or even a marriage, should it threaten to stifle your individuality or freedom. You have a strong will and can be very stubborn when you want to be. People may sometimes 'keep their distance' from you because your reactions can sometimes be unpredictable or even extreme. Similarly, you are prone to mood swings and may find emotional serenity elusive. It is important that you allows space both for expressing your own individuality and for dealing with the demands of family life, rather than allow one to be fulfilled at the expense of the other. You may feel a general sense of 'differentness' and alienation from conventional society, and be more comfortable relating to unconventional or independent types.
Moon Opposes North Node
KEYWORDS: LACK OF ADAPTABILITY; HABIT IMPEDES GROWTH; FAMILIARITY OR COMFORT VS GROWTH; NEGATIVITY; GRIPING.
Your MOON is OPPOSITE the MOON'S (NORTH) NODE, which means that your need for security conflicts with your capacity to fulfil your potential. This can manifest as a clinging to habitual patterns of thought and behaviour rather than reaching out beyond the safe and the familiar. Exploring your talents or gifts may create tensions with other members of your family. When younger, you may have felt that exploring your own unique potential necessitated leaving the family home, possibly because your parents opposed it. You need occasionally to stretch yourself and go beyond your 'comfort zone' in order to feel fully engaged with life.
The ASCENDANT symbolises the PERSONALITY; APPEARANCE; BODY-TYPE; MASK; ENVIRONMENT; SURROUNDINGS and BIRTH CIRCUMSTANCES. It is the part of ourselves that is most readily shown to (and seen by) the outside world.
Its' sign position and the aspects it makes to the planets in the horoscope show the nature of one's personality and physical appearance, and how they are integrated with the rest of the psyche. The relative strength or weakness of the Ascendant (and the First House) indicates the strength or otherwise of one's personality.
Leo rising
KEYWORDS: CONFIDANT PERSONALITY; EXTROVERT; GENEROUS; NOBLE; SELF-GLORIFICATION; LEADING; ACTING; FUN-LOVING; MAGNETIC; IMPRESSIVE; OPEN; EGOCENTRIC; ARROGANT; DRAMATIC; PROUD; AUTHORITATIVE; DIGNIFIED; INDIVIDUAL; STRONG WILL; HONOURABLE; SPIRITED; CREATIVE; SELF- EXPRESSIVE; EXTRAVAGANT; SHOWY; LIVELY; RADIANCE; WARMTH; SUNNY; SELF-RESPECT; DOMINANT; RESPECTED; ENERGETIC; REGAL; CHILDLIKE/CHILDISH.
BODY-TYPE AND APPEARANCE: COMMANDING; OPEN, SUNNY FACE; MANE OF HAIR; RUDDY COMPLEXION; TALL; ATTRACTIVE; COMELY; UPRIGHT.
Your ASCENDANT is in LEO, indicating that you are outwardly strong and confident. Unless there are dynamic aspects to your Ascendant from Saturn, Neptune, or Pluto, you come across as a bright, extroverted, and fun-loving person endowed with a spirited approach to life, always happy to make space for fun, recreation, or entertainment. Your personality is one of your greatest assets, and with it you are able to impress, control, and charm. You love to have an admiring audience around you, and are adept at holding people's attention, through your ability to dramatise, entertain, or simply add flair to whatever you do. Leadership comes naturally since your honesty and generosity inspire loyalty in others, as does your ability to dramatise an idea or project. Your cheerful, sunny disposition exerts a life giving, energising effect on people, although should you feel that you are being ignored, you can suddenly display the more autocratic side of Leo, and behave in a demanding, imperious, and childish fashion.
From a relationship, you generally seek friendship, excitement, variety, and a meeting of minds, and your marriage partner is likely to be unconventional in some way. Dependency or routine is a turn-off for you, so it is important that you both consciously aim to keep the relationships fresh and unpredictable.
Physically, you are likely to be middle to tall in stature, with an attractive but commanding presence, and a noticeably lion-like mane of probably light hair, and an open, regal face.
Ascendant Conjuncts Mars
KEYWORDS: FORCEFUL OR ASSERTIVE PERSONALITY; TOUGH; ASSERTIVE; BLUNT; STRONG-WILLED; COURAGEOUS; AGGRESSIVE; FIGHTING SPIRIT; ENERGETIC; PHYSICAL STRENGTH; ACTIVE; PUSHY; COMPETITIVE; LEADING; BOLD; DOMINEERING; FRICTION; ATHLETIC; HOT-TEMPERED; INDEPENDENT; DARING; SELF-CONFIDENT; ARROGANT; SELF-RELIANT; DEFENSIVE; SPORT; UNCOOPERATIVE; EASILY ANGERED; IRRITABLE; VIGOROUS; DYNAMIC.
Your ASCENDANT is CONJUNCT MARS, which means that you have a forceful and assertive personality. You possess a fighting spirit and meet the world head-on. You pride yourself on your independence and are a strong person physically and mentally - indeed, you may be noted for your courage or bravery. Your short temper and competitive attitude can however sometimes make you difficult to get on with but this is unlikely to worry you unduly. You are highly active (unless perhaps Mars or the Ascendant is in Pisces or Taurus) and dislike being unoccupied for any length of time. Sport, particularly competitive sports, athletics or other forms of vigorous exercise are good outlets for your strength and energy. When you don't use up your energy, you are apt to become irritable or argumentative. At times, you react defensively to people, interpreting neutral behaviour as being threatening or confrontational when it really isn't. You are not afraid to assert yourself with people nor go after what you want in life, with the consequence that some regard you as pushy or arrogant, whilst others admire your energy and forthright attitude.
Ascendant Squares Midheaven
KEYWORDS: CONFLICT BETWEEN PERSONALITY AND PUBLIC IMAGE/ HIGHER SELF AND LOWER SELF/ACTUALITY AND AIMS; UNDIRECTED.
Your Ascendant is square the Midheaven, which means that your outward personality conflicts with your public image. This is not an especially important aspect, but shows that the image you present to people at work or in your career or public life is quite separate from your everyday personality - a different 'front' if you like. Generally, you prefer to keep your career life separate from your social or private life, and you are quite successful in this aim. You may be distressed sometimes at the gulf between your goals in life and the actualities of your existence, but equally this may work as a strongly motivating factor.
The inner planets of the solar system (excluding the Earth) symbolise in astrology the way you communicate and interact with other people, be they friends, strangers or partners. Mercury represents your everyday communication style and thinking patterns, and thus rules speech, writing and the way we process information about the world. Venus and Mars on the other hand represent the two principles of relating to other people - approval by others, and asserting one's own interests. Where Venus is the realm of social harmony, adapting to others' interests, making oneself attractive (and the qualities that one finds attractive in others), Mars is the realm of action, self-assertion, and getting what one wants. Good relationships are made easier when we are able to communicate effectively with others, and know when to give and when to take.
MERCURY symbolises one's INTELLECT; MIND; INTELLIGENCE; COMMUNICATION; MEDIATION; LOGIC; ADAPTABILITY; MOBILITY; REASON; ANALYSIS; DISCRIMINATION; HUMOUR; KNOWLEDGE and SPEECH Unlike the Sun and Moon, it is a NEUTRAL planet, and is personified by SIBLINGS; FRIENDS; THINKERS; WRITERS; TALKERS and those who MEDIATE.
In the horoscope it is the planet that shows how one communicates and thinks. The sign and house in which it is found, together with the aspects Mercury makes to other planets, show the manner and style in which one communicates to others, the area of life in (or about which) one is most communicative and intelligently detached, and how one's powers of speech and mind are integrated with the rest of the psyche. The relative strength or weakness of Mercury in the horoscope shows the extent to which one uses one's reason and communicative abilities.
Mercury in Cancer
KEYWORDS: THOUGHT INFLUENCED BY FEELING; REFLECTIVE; GOOD MEMORY; PROFOUND; NARROW; SUBJECTIVE; FAMILIAL CONCERNS.
Your MERCURY is in CANCER, indicating that your communication and thinking are linked to your feelings. You are quiet, reflective, and learn best when allowed to absorb information at your own pace, and when emotionally drawn by the subject matter. Much of the time you are thinking about the past, your childhood and your family, so subjects such as history, antiques, palaeontology, archaeology, and ancestry, are likely to appeal strongly. You love delving into a good book, and tend to lose yourself in whatever you are reading. You would make an excellent scholar, biographer or librarian. You are somewhat wary of new ideas, unorthodox viewpoints, and intellectual abstractions, and are more sympathetic to proven or trusted ideas. You understand subtleties, nuances, feelings and psychological complexities, and are capable of writing a sensitively observed story or poem. You listen attentively to what people are saying (or not saying!), and are good not only at allowing other people to verbalise their feelings, but also at expressing your own. You have an excellent memory, and can be a veritable mine of information - especially that relating to the past. An appeal to your feelings or imagination is more likely to work than an appeal to logic or pragmatism. You tend to shy away from arguments or and are tolerant of other people's opinions.
Mercury in the 11th House
KEYWORDS: SOCIABLE; GROUPS; FRIENDSHIP; COLLECTIVE-MINDED; RADICAL IDEAS; SPOKESPERSON; POLITICAL; INVOLVED; TEAMS; SOCIETIES; SOCIAL ISSUES; DEBATE; JOINING.
Your MERCURY is in the ELEVENTH HOUSE of your horoscope, and this means that you communicate well in group situations. You tend to learn more quickly and effectively as part of a group or team rather than on your own. Pooling ideas, sharing resources and debating engages your intellect, whilst participation in group activities stimulates your skill at communicating and negotiating. Indeed, you may often find yourself called on to be a spokesperson for the group. You are a friendly and open person and usually find it easy to mix with people - you enjoy talking and exchanging ideas, even with strangers. You are a natural networker and are likely to cultivate contacts across a broad sweep of society. You may even belong to organisations or societies whose aim is to foster communication and share work opportunities. There is a danger with this house position of Mercury that you merely reiterate what your group/party/ culture/society propounds rather than thinking for yourself about all sides of an issue. You prefer friends that are intelligent, witty and with whom you can exchange gossip or simply have fun with.
Mercury Squares Neptune
KEYWORDS: CONFUSED THINKING; IMAGINATIVE; VAGUE; FORGETFUL; ABSENT-MINDED; WOOLLY; DREAMY; POETIC; SUBTLE; INSPIRED; VISIONARY; DECEPTION; DELUSION; DISORGANISED; DIFFICULTY EXPRESSING ONESELF; INTUITION; PERCEPTIVE; WORRY; ANXIETIES; NERVOUS; UNTRUTHS; SPEECH IMPEDIMENTS.
Your MERCURY is SQUARE NEPTUNE, which shows that your thinking conflicts with your imaginative and idealistic faculties. You are highly imaginative and spend much of your time dreaming and fantasising. This may have caused problems at school, particularly with subjects that demanded formal argument, logic or disciplined study. You learn best when subjects are presented in an inspirational or creative way, such as with the use of role-play or multi-sensory learning, and which allow for lateral thinking and spontaneity, and reward your ability to make connections between seemingly unconnected ideas. You often lack confidence in your ability to communicate clearly, and to some people you may seem vague or woolly-minded. They would be mistaken in assuming that you lacked intelligence however. In fact, you are likely to have a gift for expressing your thoughts through the medium of writing, especially poetry or fiction. Art, drama and literature can be areas in which you shine.
You have an excellent faculty for visualisation. You may also be highly intuitive, picking up things about people, places and situations that most people miss in their concentration on externals or surface appearances. Often you are able to tell much about people's state of mind, feelings and problems, even past lives perhaps, simply by looking at them. Because you are so imaginative, it is very important to use your mind's potential creatively and positively, and to be able to discriminate between reality and fantasy. Sometimes you would rather evade harsh facts and pretend they do not exist which can lead to self-deception or even to deceiving others. Making clarity and common sense your touchstone enables you to avoid self-delusion, nebulous anxieties and fears that have little basis in reality. You may be attracted to occult, artistic or spiritual ideas, which is fine as long as you remain in touch with the 'real' world. Making an effort to keep all your communication clear and open enables you to avoid some of the pitfalls associated with this aspect.
VENUS symbolises RELATIONSHIP; HARMONY; LOVE; ATTRACTION; ART; BEAUTY; PLEASURE; RELAXATION; FRIENDS and SEX. It is FEMININE SEXUALITY in contrast to the masculine sexuality of MARS. We thus each have a masculine and feminine side, to a greater or lesser degree. Though sexuality is a profoundly complex subject, and cannot be reduced to a mere formula, it is often the case that in a man's birthchart Venus represents an IDEAL FEMININE IMAGE. This gives rise to attraction to those who embody or evoke it, whilst in a woman's birthchart Venus often symbolises her own sexuality and attractiveness. It is personified by WOMEN and GIRLS in general, and also ARTISTS, LOVERS, MUSICIANS, DANCERS, ROMANTICS, POETS and DIPLOMATS.
In the horoscope it is the point that reveals what give one pleasure and how one relates to others. Its sign, house position, and the aspects it makes to other planets show the type and quality of one's relationships, the area of life in which one has a sense of wellbeing and satisfaction, and how one's capacity to relate is integrated with the rest of the psyche. The relative strength of Venus in one's chart indicates the importance or otherwise of love and friendships in one's life and the extent to which one adapts or harmonises with people.
Venus in Cancer
KEYWORDS: LOVING; CARE; MATERNAL; DOMESTIC; AFFECTION; SENSITIVITY; LOVE OF HOME; ROMANTIC; MAUDLIN; TENDER; STABILITY.
Your VENUS is in CANCER, indicating that you relate emotionally and sensitively. You have a great need to give and receive love but you are not the type to actively chase the object of your affections. You love deeply and from the heart, and are very caring, even parental, toward your lovers and friends. You enjoy home life and make your nest as comfortable as possible so that it is a place of rest and protection. You may at times be vulnerable to the advances of those who seek to take advantage of your good nature, as you are in general charitable, kind and warm-hearted. You can be old-fashioned about love, and your image of it, and marriage, is no doubt quite traditional and romantic. You are more compassionate than passionate in love and you enjoy taking care of your partner, pleasing them as much as possible, and generally looking after them. You are especially sensitive to your partner's moods and feelings. In relationships, you may enjoy the role of slave for a while if it means that you won't be rejected, as you can be terrified of the thought of abandonment. This tempts you to cling to your partner even if they behave badly. You need an outlet for your emotions, since bottling them up inside affects you physically, and is liable to cause digestive or stomach complaints. To have something to serve and love is a necessary panacea for you. You are attracted to religion, and may find friendship amongst fellow worshippers. You prefer the company of close friends who understand and care for you, and it is quite likely that you have more female than male friends.
Venus in the 11th House
KEYWORDS: SOCIABLE; HIP; FASHIONABLE; FEMALE FRIENDS; STYLISH OR ARTISTIC FRIENDS; THE 'IN' CROWD; WOMEN'S GROUPS; SOCIAL CLIMBING; CO-0PERATIION; FRIENDS AS LOVERS; LOVERS AS FRIENDS.
Your VENUS is in the ELEVENTH HOUSE of your horoscope, which means that you enjoy friendship and being part of a group. You are a sociable and friendly person and you enjoy mixing with people, especially if they are intelligent, cultured or attractive. However, you are by no means snobbish about who you associate with, and are able to get on with most types, regardless of background, race or class. You seek out good times with people and enjoy sharing experiences with friends, for which reason you are likely to be popular and well liked. You have a great deal of affection for your friends, and probably receive a lot in return. You get on well with women and have many female friends. For you, lovers often become (or remain) friends even after you have split up - and similarly, friends may become lovers. Some of your friends are likely to be artists, musicians, or notably fashionable, stylish or attractive. You tend to seek other people's approval, though mainly that of the group, culture, organisation or subculture that you identify with, and this can occasionally lead to compromising yourself in the name of 'fitting in'. You may aspire to be part of 'The In Crowd', and part of your attraction for others is their hipness or fashionableness. You dislike being alone for too long as this goes against your gregarious nature. You are capable of co-operation and teamwork with others, and believe strongly in social harmony.
Venus Conjuncts Saturn
KEYWORDS: MATURE LOVE; LOYAL; OLDER FRIENDS AND LOVERS; SINCERE; SOCIAL STATUS; LASTING FRIENDSHIPS; LOVE OF ACHIEVEMENT; CAREER WOMEN; FORMAL, TRADITIONAL OR CONVENTIONAL ART; RESTRAINED; STEADY; TRUSTED FRIEND; LOVE OF STRUCTURE OR ORDER; ARCHITECTURE; SCULPTURE; INHIBITED; SHY; SEPARATIONS; SELF-DISCIPLINED; TRADITIONAL TASTES; CLASSICAL; ELEGANT; HARDWORKING.
Your VENUS is CONJUNCT SATURN, which means that you have a serious attitude towards love and towards relating to others. As a child, you may have been expected to behave with self-discipline and maturity, or have been treated as older than your years - especially by comparison with the way other children your age were treated. You may have secretly enjoyed the feeling of being part of the adult world, although it could have made it difficult to relate to your peers. This may have given rise to a sense of loneliness or isolation. You may still prefer the company of older or more serious people. There may have also been a marked lack of physical closeness and touching within the family, and an emphasis put on obedience or moral duty. As an adult however, you see that there were strong bonds within the family, and that such an emphasis was an expression of caring rather than a denial of it.
You may at times experience difficulties relating to the opposite sex, or expressing affection with those you love. Somehow, you lacked the role models that could have shown you how to relate affectionately with others, so you have to learn it for yourself, step by step. Sex may even be surrounded by feelings of guilt, especially if your parents regarded it as dirty or sinful. You are attracted to people as potential partners who are serious, hardworking or mature, and who offer security and the chance of a lasting relationship. Some of the partners you choose in life may however lack your commitment, or may have been attractive for the wrong reasons, but you definitely learn by experience and you make sure you do not make the same mistakes twice. You take love very seriously, and rarely enter into casual relationships. You are sensitive to rejection, and if this happens, are apt to protect yourself by withdrawing from further entanglements.
Social status gives you not so much the feeling of superiority as of security, and is something you are likely to work hard at achieving and maintaining. Many of the people you associate with are likely to be work colleagues, or are notably successful or hardworking in their field. Work, and especially achievement, gives you a great deal of pleasure and satisfaction, and much of your energy may be geared toward succeeding in life. This is perhaps because you received more love or approval as a child when you did well at school. You are likely to rise to a position of responsibility or authority in your work, reflecting your hard-working, conscientious and dedicated approach. You excel at dealing with people in a polished and professional manner, and work toward achieving your objectives consistently and reliably. If at all creative, you are likely to express yourself in a highly structured, formal or traditional manner. Since Saturn/Venus could be said to mean 'structural art', you may be particularly interested in architecture or sculpture. Design too may be something you are good at, and the practical or business side of art, or entertainment. You work to improve your creative skills, and what you produce is usually characterised by its painstaking craftsmanship or the years of experience behind it.
Venus Sextiles Midheaven
KEYWORDS: HAPPY BALANCE BETWEEN HOME AND CAREER; LOVE OF FAMILY; HAPPY HOME; WARM; KIND; WELL-LOVED; ENJOYMENT OF CAREER; BEAUTIFUL HOME; SECURE; LOVE OF BEAUTY; CHEERFUL; GIVING.
Your VENUS is SEXTILE the MIDHEAVEN, which means that you experience a harmony between your ability to relate to people and your career. Your childhood was happy and loving, and your parents gave you the security to be able to relate to the world with confidence and warmth. Because of this, people like you a great deal. You enjoy family life, and love being in the home, which may be particularly beautiful or attractive. You are always likely to have good relationships with your parents. You enjoy your work or career, and it may involve creativity or people skills. Your goals do not detract from your home and family life (unless for example you also have Moon square the Midheaven), and in fact they probably both enhance each other. Your relationships too are enhanced by your ability to relate to your own feelings and needs, and even when an affair ends, it is unlikely to end bitterly.
MARS symbolises DESIRE; AGGRESSION; WILL; ACTIVITY; IMPULSE; COMPETITION; SEX AND SEXUAL DRIVE; INITIATIVE; BATTLES; ANGER and MASCULINITY. It is MALE SEXUALITY in contrast to the feminine sexuality of VENUS. In a woman's birthchart, it often symbolises the IDEAL MALE IMAGE within the psyche that gives rise to attraction to those who embody or evoke it. In a man's birthchart, it often symbolises his unconscious image of masculinity, and relates closely to the 'male ego'. It is personified by MEN IN GENERAL; FIGHTERS; COMPETITORS; ATHLETES; MECHANICS; THE POLICE; AGGRESSORS; ENGINEERS ETC.
In the horoscope it is the point that reveals the nature of one's desires and how one asserts oneself. Its sign, house position, and the aspects it makes to other planets show the manner in which one asserts oneself and gets what one wants, the area of life in which one is most energised and aggressive, and how one's desires and ability to assert oneself are integrated with the rest of the psyche. The relative strength or weakness of one's Mars indicates one's assertiveness or otherwise, and the extent to which one fights or competes with others.
Mars in Leo
KEYWORDS: DRAMATIC; DOMINEERING; COMPETITIVE; EGOTISTICAL; WILLPOWER; DETERMINATION; HIGH SPIRITS; VITAL; ACTING; LEADERSHIP.
Your MARS is in LEO, indicating that you assert yourself confidently and dramatically. You impress with your generosity, vigour and flair. You have incredible energy and know exactly where you are going - which is probably straight to the top. You are highly competitive (a trait that was probably noticeable in childhood game-playing), and love to do things better than anyone else - and preferably in a grand, unbeatable style as well. You seek to be a leader in almost everything you do, which is fine if you command people's respect, but irritating if you are just seeking attention or to be 'top dog'. After all, a good leader is usually in that position because people have chosen him or her to lead them. You can appear over-assertive at times, stirring up unnecessary enmity or opposition, and occasionally push people beyond their limits, earning yourself a reputation of bossiness or arrogance. You demand honesty and truth from people and take it as a point of honour to be open and truthful yourself. You rarely waste opportunities, and rise to challenges fearlessly and confidently.
You can be highly entertaining, with a gift for dramatising situations or making them seem larger than life. As an example, you are probably able to tell a great story or joke. A marked talent for acting is noted in people with Mars in Leo, as is a love of the theatre and performance generally. As a presenter, you can be dynamic, exciting and highly motivating. Your energy and enthusiasm is an advantage in many careers, but you thrive especially in work containing a strong element of competition, performance, or which requires the ability to influence or persuade other people. As such, marketing, promotion, advertising, the arts, sales, teaching, politics, campaigning, lecturing, journalism and the media are all highly suitable. Whatever you do has to have an element of fun in it however, since your boredom threshold is notoriously low.
You have a strong sex drive, and in your affections are open, passionate and demonstrative. When attracted to someone, you set out to impress with bold, romantic gestures, and if rebuffed, your confidence is badly dented. You have a hot temper, and when you explode the fallout can take a long time to settle. You need plenty of physical outlets for your physical energy, and competitive sports, exercise classes or highly active pastimes are ideal. You may have artistic ability, and if so then what you produce is notably passionate, fiery or loud.
Mars in the 12th House
KEYWORDS: HIDDEN FEELINGS; DISSATISFIED; REPRESSED ANGER; SECRET ENEMIES; COVERT ACTIVITY.
Your MARS is in the TWELFTH HOUSE of horoscope, indicating that you assert yourself covertly and with sensitivity. Sometimes you can be your own worst enemy, in that without knowing it, you undermine your own efforts at asserting yourself and getting what you want out of life. This may result from a lack confidence in your abilities, and a fear of competition, both of which could stem from a lack of sufficient encouragement from parents, teachers etc. You have a tendency to repress anger and not express it overtly, perhaps fearing that situations could get violent or uncontrollable. You sometimes let bad feelings fester inside you where they can exert a destructive effect, both on your own peace of mind, and also on your relationships. For instance, you may consciously intend to behave positively with someone, but certain actions (like 'forgetting' appointments or meetings etc.) betray your unconscious feelings of hostility or generalised anger with the world. Rather than trying to escape your feelings, perhaps through drink, drugs or other forms of escapism, you should learn to accept anger and realise that it is a perfectly healthy emotion, and you should perhaps also learn to clearly see the distinction between aggression and healthy self-assertion. You are good at working 'behind the scenes', and often do much for people that they do not see or realise.
Mars Squares Midheaven
KEYWORDS: AMBITIOUS; COMPETITIVE; CONFLICT WITH AUTHORITIES; PROFESSIONAL DISPUTES; IMPULSIVE MOVES; CONFLICT WITH SUPERIORS; PUBLIC DISPUTES; HOSTILITY; AGGRESSIVE PUBLIC IMAGE; WORK-STRESS; AGITATION; TOUGH OR ENERGETIC WORK; QUARRELS; DOMESTIC STRIFE; FAMILY QUARRELS.
Your MARS is SQUARE the MIDHEAVEN, which shows that your ability to assert yourself conflicts with your goals or career. You are ambitious to get ahead in life and put a great deal of energy into your work or career as a result. You prefer work that demands a good deal of initiative, daring, energy, physical strength or drive. Competitiveness is part of your nature and you are well able to withstand the knocks that come with it. However, at times you can be overly aggressive in your approach and get into needless disputes or quarrels both with co-workers or colleagues and superiors. These might occasionally even lead to professional setbacks (such as getting fired), or even to gaining a reputation as a troublemaker. The work you do may bring you before the public, in which case you are likely to come across as highly self-assertive, even pushy or aggressive. Work-related stress may be a problem for you and if so, it will have an effect on your domestic or family life.
Suitable fields for your energies are armed forces, paramedical work, lifesaving, the construction industry, high-pressure sales, financial trading and competitive athletics or sports.
These three points in your horoscope represent the way you interact with and adapt to the larger world of society - your public face, your ideals and ambitions. The Midheaven represents your inner aims and overall direction in life, as well as your public image. This is the way the public at large are likely to see you and to assess your life. Jupiter and Saturn on the other hand represent the two principles of establishing your place in the world - having a vision of what is possible, and knowing how to adapt to the reality. Jupiter brings expansion, optimism, good fortune, Saturn brings contraction, realism and sometimes painful, but always valuable, lessons. Successful adaptation to the outside world lies in developing one's social strengths, knowing when to take advantage of opportunity and when to strengthen the foundations of one's life.
The MIDHEAVEN (or Tenth House cusp) symbolises one's PUBLIC IMAGE; ASPIRATIONS; CONTRIBUTION TO SOCIETY; CONSCIOUSNESS; AIMS; DIRECTION; FUTURE and PROFESSIONAL LIFE. It is one's Public Face in contradistinction to the private one symbolised by the IMMUM COELI (or Fourth House cusp) which is always directly opposite the Midheaven.
The sign position and aspects to the planets or Ascendant show the nature of one's orientation to society and the public, and how one's goals integrate with the other elements of one's life. The relative strength or weakness of the Midheaven and the Tenth House indicate the importance or otherwise of relating to the public and of contributing to society.
Midheaven in Taurus
KEYWORDS: SOCIAL STATUS; AMBITIOUS; PERSISTENT PURSUIT OF AIMS; STRIVING FOR SECURITY; WEALTH; SLOW DEVELOPMENT; DETERMINED; CONSERVATIVE; PATIENT; TENACIOUS; PLODDING; PRODUCTIVE; STABLE; SUBSTANTIAL; ARTISTIC, ATTRACTIVE OR MONEYED PUBLIC IMAGE.
Your MIDHEAVEN is in TAURUS, which indicates that you strive for physical and financial security, and to lead a productive and substantial life. Money is important to you, and you are willing to work hard to get it. You seek a career that will bring financial rewards and a comfortable or wealthy lifestyle. Fields such as business, commerce, sales, finances, agriculture, the retail trade, the arts, modelling, the beauty or glamour industry may all suit your particular talents. You believe in the value of stability, wealth and material satisfaction, and you may be seen as a person who embodies or supports such values in a public way. You may wish to be seen by people in general as a person of substance - someone who has by your own efforts created something of worth and lasting value. This could mean anything from building up your own business, to having a well-rewarded job, or owning a beautiful home. Whatever you may be known for, it is important to you that you are valued by society, either for what you are, or for what you have done. Taurus symbolises physical beauty too, so the public may know you as being sexy or attractive.
Midheaven Sextiles Saturn
KEYWORDS: PATIENT PURSUIT OF GOALS; FUTURE PLANS; EXPERIENCE; STABLE FAMILY LIFE; SUSTAINED EFFORT; GOOD FOUNDATION; SUPPORT FROM PARENTS; TRADITION; STANDING; HARD-WORKING; ORGANISED; PROFESSIONAL ATTITUDE; GOOD RELATIONSHIP TO AUTHORITY; SECURE; STRONG; INNER DISCIPLINE; CONSERVATIVE; RESPONSIBLE; TRUSTED; ISOLATED; MATURE; ESTABLISHED; HIGH STANDARDS; DUTY.
Your MIDHEAVEN is SEXTILE SATURN, which means that your ability to work with reality harmonises with your career or goals in life. You were brought up to appreciate the values of tradition and hard work and this has given you a solid foundation in life. You are able to bring to your work a professional, thorough and disciplined approach that employers (or the public, should you come into contact with them) value. You have an undoubted integrity and so are trusted by those in charge or in authority to be reliable and responsible, and this can only do your career good. You do not however neglect your responsibilities to your family or home life, for they are likely to be more important to you. You may come from a strong and established family and be expected by them to 'carry on the family traditions' or to conform to what is expected of you by them. You matured early and are somewhat conservative in your approach to life. You are suited to positions of authority and responsibility such as managerial or executive posts, working in local or central government, looking after money or other resources, administration or organisation of all kinds. You are reliable and painstaking, and usually complete a task or project once you have begun it. Your take a considered, long term view of your career and pursue your goals patiently and with careful planning.
JUPITER symbolises EXPANSION; OPTIMISM; PHILOSOPHY; EXCESS; GENEROSITY; WISDOM; OPPORTUNITY; GROWTH; RELIGION; LEARNING; ASPIRATIONS; ENTHUSIASMS; INDULGENCE; POSITIVITY and VISION. It is the opposite of the principle of contraction symbolised by Saturn.
In the horoscope it is the point that reveals how one connects with the larger order of things beyond ones everyday frames of reference. It shows what one enjoys in life and how one expands beyond one's normal limitations. It offers opportunity and luck, and promotes trust, faith and wisdom. The sign, house position and the aspects it makes to other planets indicate what one enjoys, the area of life in which one grows and which naturally presents opportunities, and how one's ability to relax and enjoy life integrates with the other elements of one's life. The relative strength or weakness of Jupiter indicates the extent to which one can stand back from oneself and one's life, and appreciate them from a broader perspective.
Jupiter Retrograde
JUPITER was RETROGRADE at the moment of your birth, meaning that it appeared to be moving backwards. This means that you have your own private value system, and your own definition of success, which could be quite different to the conventional definition, which usually revolves around wealth and status. You are aiming for something deeper, something connected with quality of being, and richness of experience. You are philosophical in temperament, and spend much time contemplating the meaning and purpose of things, including your own actions and goals. You would stand up for your principles even if they are not shared by those around you. You may be less socially inclined than many, and take risks uneasily, since the Jupiter principle of luck is not at its strongest when retrograde. On the other hand however, you can make leaps of faith and take intellectual risks that others would never even consider. You have a fundamental honesty and wisdom, and are able to see peoples' lives and the consequences of their actions in the light of your higher mind.
Jupiter in Libra
KEYWORDS: PHILANTHROPIC; JUST; CHARITABLE; CULTURED; BENIGN; GOOD MARRIAGE; THE LAW; LOVE OF SOCIAL LIFE; POPULARITY; PEOPLE.
Your JUPITER is in LIBRA, showing that you have a positive attitude towards relationships and people in general. You have a gift for relating to people, and are charming and relaxed in even the most difficult of social situations. You are popular and well liked, and enjoy an active, even hectic, social life. You have a balanced and cultured mind, and believe strongly in justice and equality. You hate bigotry and narrow social divisions such as those based on class, race or religion, and because you value harmony, you may have a reputation as a wise peacemaker. You appreciate beauty in all its forms, human, artistic or natural, and may be knowledgeable on such subjects as art and fashion. You are a skilled matchmaker and host, and enjoy bringing the right people together to create a memorable social occasion. People value your sound judgement and balanced advice, especially concerning relationships, so you could well make a fine counsellor or adviser.
Jupiter in the 2nd House
KEYWORDS: ABUNDANCE; GENEROSITY; WEALTH; OVER-INDULGENCE; JOVIAL; HEDONISTIC; PLEASURE; COMFORT; FORTUNATE; BUSINESS SKILLS; SPECULATION; VALUES; SELF-WORTH; MONEY; PROFIT; OSTENTATION; LUXURY; WASTE; POSSESSIONS; INVESTMENT; FULFILMENT; CONTENTMENT; MATERIALISM; RECKLESS; APPETITE; DESIRE; SHARING; ELEGANCE; OPULENCE; GOOD TASTE; SECURE.
Your JUPITER is in the SECOND HOUSE, indicating that you have an expansive attitude towards financial and material resources. Jupiter here does not automatically entail vast wealth, but it does suggest that money and what you can buy with it gives you a great deal of pleasure, and that you handle your financial and material affairs with confidence. Some people with this house-position of Jupiter, particularly if the rest of their birthchart corroborates this theme, do seem to have the 'Midas Touch', with every project they start becoming lucrative, or purchase they make increasing in value. For others however, it can mean that too much importance is placed on wealth and materialism, and that too much energy is spent chasing after money to the detriment of deeper and more lasting values. Others with this house position of Jupiter have a more detached and generous attitude that enables them to sit back and enjoy the whole game of making money. At root, there is a sense of abundance, and a faith that the universe, or God, will always provide what is necessary. Getting, spending and collecting are all pleasures to you, and as a result you have probably accumulated a good many possessions. You may have sophisticated or expensive tastes - unless that is you are seduced by price tags or see things merely as symbols of success or status, in which case your tastes may veer towards the vulgar or flashy. Shopping may be a pleasurable self-indulgence or it may turn into a dangerously expensive addiction.
Jupiter Squares Saturn
KEYWORDS: DISCONTENTED; FRUSTRATED; PESSIMISTIC; PROSAIC; RESTLESS; DISLIKE OF LIMITATIONS; DESIRE FOR SIGNIFICANCE; IMPATIENT; HIGH EXPECTATIONS; TESTS; DISLIKE OF RESPONSIBILITIES; SELF-DENIAL; UNCONFIDENT; ETHICAL OR MORAL DILEMMAS; NEED FOR MEANING; DEPRESSIVE; PHILOSOPHY; DEEPLY QUESTIONING; MISSED OPPORTUNITIES; ROUTINE; RIGID IDEALS.
Your JUPITER is SQUARE SATURN, which means that you experience a conflict between expectations and reality, or freedom and responsibility. Rarely does anything of value ever seem to come to you without you working hard for it. You may put a great deal of effort into making money, though you may have to sacrifice much to get it. This constant testing process and lack of 'breaks' in your life may make you quite pessimistic and even cynical. Having fun or simply indulging yourself occasionally sometimes has unfortunate or unforeseen results, perhaps because when you do you are deliberately kicking against the restrictions that limit you. This is not to say you cannot have fun or enjoy yourself - far from it. It is just that you may need to examine the issues of guilt or self-denial that surround the notion of enjoyment. Similarly, you may find it hard to balance the legitimate need for freedom on the one hand, and work, career or duties on the other, and there may be periods in your life when you feel like a wage-slave, with work and survival taking up all your time and energy. Treading the thin line between both poles is a vital lesson for you, and one that involves careful weighing up the demands of both sides of life and careful listening to both sides of your nature. We all need pleasure and rewards as well as discipline and structure. The conflict between your ideals and the realities you see around you probably causes you to reflect deeply and seriously about moral, ethical and social issues, with the consequence that you have strong beliefs about society and morality.
Jupiter Trines Uranus
KEYWORDS: SUDDEN GOOD FORTUNE; ORIGINAL; INVENTIVE; FREEDOM; REALISATIONS; OPPORTUNITIES; ENTHUSIASTIC; INTUITIVE; GOOD IDEAS; QUICK COMPREHENSION; LUCKY BREAKS; SUCCESSFUL SPECULATION; SPEED; ADVENTURE; INDEPENDENT; PRINCIPLED; PHILOSOPHICAL INTERESTS; FORTUNE-HUNTING; OPTIMISTIC; PERCEPTIVE; PROGRESSIVE; AHEAD OF ONE'S TIME; LIBERAL; REFORMING; CAUSES; SUDDEN JOURNEYS; FOREIGN ADVENTURES; FLAIR; INSPIRATION; MOTIVATED; IDEALISTIC; QUESTIONING; LIBERTARIAN; DARING; CONSCIOUSNESS EXPANSION; ENLIGHTENED; NEW IDEAS; GAMBLING; VISIONARY IDEAS; ADVANCED; RISK-TAKING; FORWARD-LOOKING.
Your JUPITER is TRINE URANUS, meaning that you experience a harmony between your ideals and your individuality. Many of the ideas or beliefs you entertain are way ahead of their time, or radically different from those that are generally accepted in society. You keep abreast of the latest discoveries in science and the latest trends in thinking and culture. You question everything, and your beliefs and ideas are as a consequence uniquely yours. You are excited by life and value your own freedom of action, thought and speech. You seek adventure and are unafraid to take risks in pursuit of your vision. You enjoy the company of those who share your freethinking or progressive mentality, and may speak out against institutionalised ignorance, prejudice or injustice. You have faith in your own potential, and are able to motivate others to reach beyond their limitations and think in new and exciting ways. You do best in work that demands creativity and innovation, and which allows you the freedom to pursue your own goals.
You welcome change and are forward-looking, even futuristic, in your outlook. You have a creative and highly intuitive mind and are frequently inspired in your thinking. You grasp new ideas quickly, and were likely to have excelled at school, as long as the teaching system did not hold you back. This aspect also indicates that you are lucky, and that when good fortune or opportunity come to you they tend to come out of the blue. Travel and foreign contacts often bring opportunity, and vice versa.
Jupiter Trines North Node
KEYWORDS: GIFTED; GOOD CONNECTIONS; ADVANTAGEOUS ASSOCIATIONS; EDUCATIONAL INTERESTS; EXPLORATION OF POTENTIAL; FULFILMENT; JOY; CREATIVITY; GAIN THROUGH TALENT.
Your JUPITER is TRINE the MOON'S (NORTH) NODE, which means that you are confident about your ability to fulfil your potential in life. You are fortunate, in that your education encouraged you to explore your own potential, and guided you in developing your talents. This has given you a confidence in abilities, and a faith that life is full of opportunities. You may well achieve success or financial gain through such gifts, the nature of which may be connected with the sign and house position of your Moon's North Node. You believe strongly in awakening others to their human potential, and as such may be involved in education or teaching of some kind. You are good at motivating and inspiring others.
SATURN symbolises RESTRICTION; LIMITATION; DUTY; WORK; CRYSTALLISATION; CONCENTRATION; INHIBITION; DISCIPLINE; FOCUS; INHIBITION, FORM and WISDOM. It is the CONTRACTIVE PRINCIPLE in contra-distinction to the EXPANSION represented by JUPITER. It is personified by THE ELDERLY; SERIOUS PEOPLE; BUSINESS-PEOPLE; THE SICK; WORKERS and JUDGES.
In the horoscope it is the point that reveals the nature of the limitations (either within or without) that one has to face and work with in one's life. It's sign, house position, and the aspects it makes to other planets show the nature of one's limitations, the area of life in which one is tested and in which one has to face one's limitations; and how one's capacity for taking responsibility is integrated with the other elements of one's life. The relative strength or weakness of Saturn shows the degree to which one can achieve enduring stability, both materially and psychologically.
Saturn in Cancer
KEYWORDS: DIFFICULT HOME LIFE; DEPTH; SECURITY; SHELTERING; INTEGRITY; KIND; ELDERLY; RESERVED; LONELY; RESPECTFUL; DEFENSIVE; RECLUSIVE; NEEDING WARMTH; INSECURE; CONTROLLED.
Your SATURN is in CANCER, which indicates that you seek belonging and emotional nourishment. Your childhood may have been lacking in warmth or emotional closeness in some way, and consequently you could have grown up with a sense of isolation and loneliness. Discipline and maturity may have been stressed, at the expense of love and understanding. Naturally, this can make trusting, or even understanding, your own feelings quite difficult at times. Your sense of your own value as a person may also not be strong, and recognising that this is so, and that this may be behind many of your problems, is likely to mark a major turning point in your evolution. Forgiveness of one's past or upbringing releases you from the grip of emptiness, depression or resentment. Taking a close look at your real feelings, and learning to work with, rather than against, them, can give you a hard-won integrity and a depth that few possess. To some people you may appear cold and unfeeling, but those who know you well know better. In reality, you are a vulnerable human being with the same need for love and security as anyone else - it's just that you may not easily show it. Being given love and affection does wonders for you and gives you the confidence to come out of your shell. You are used however to falling back on your own resources, and through experiences of pain or hurt, may have developed a great inner strength. Emotional commitment tends to scare you, as does the thought of 'settling down' to create a permanent home. Somehow, you tend not to trust the idea of either. You can be unexpectedly kind to people in need, and are always willing to offer shelter to those with no place to go.
Saturn in the 11th House
KEYWORDS: ESTABLISHED FRIENDSHIPS; OLDER OR WISER FRIENDS; SOCIAL INHIBITIONS; ALIENATION; HUMANE; ISOLATED; AFFABLE BUT DETACHED; DISLIKE OF GROUPS; WORKING OR COMMITTED GROUPS; COLLECTIVE RESPONSIBILITIES; OUTSIDER; RIGID IDEALS; REALISATION OF IDEALS; PLANNING.
Your SATURN is in the ELEVENTH HOUSE of your horoscope, indicating that the qualities symbolised by Saturn and its sign operate in the sphere of friendships and ideals. As such, you tend to feel rather inhibited amongst of groups of people, unless they are friends who you know well or unless the group exists for a specific purpose, its members sharing common ideas or a common vision. Even amongst friends however you can sometimes find it difficult to relax and be yourself for fear of censure or disapproval. You dislike superficial friendships, and your most successful ones are usually ones that have stood the test of time. You get on well with older, more serious or established people with whom you can relate deeply and honestly. You are, if you were to admit it, a little bit of a loner who finds it difficult to relate to people (especially on a 'party - party' level) but you nonetheless take your responsibilities as a member of society - or rather, as a member of the human race, seriously. Although you possibly spend a lot of time alone, you do not necessarily dislike the fact, since you enjoy the freedom that such aloneness bestows. Obviously if this is taken to an extreme the situation becomes different, but you differ from most others in that you are not afraid of your own company, and this gives you a real independence of character. You are committed to a vision of how society could be and are willing to work patiently and practically towards actualising it. You gain a great deal out of such involvement, especially if it is with others of like mind, as it enables you to shed your feeling of detachment and 'differentness' or even alienation, and begin to participate in the life of the group.
The NORTH NODE OF THE MOON (DRAGON'S HEAD) symbolises GROWTH; DEVELOPMENT; INDIVIDUALITY; POTENTIAL; KARMA; THE FUTURE; PROVIDENCE; MEANING and THE PATH. The SOUTH NODE (DRAGON'S TAIL) (which is always directly opposite the North Node) symbolises THE PATH OF LEAST RESISTANCE; STAGNATION; THE PAST; REPETITION; HABIT and LOSS OF SELF. One has to learn to balance the urges represented by the Moon's Nodes, overcoming the pull towards habit and the past symbolised by the South Node, whilst using the lessons learned in order to develop the potential symbolised by the North Node. By doing so one will experience the joy of inner fulfilment and the certainty that one is treading one's destined path in life.
In the horoscope the North Node's sign, house position and the aspects it makes to other planets indicate one's potentials, the area of life in which one is called to grow and fulfil one's destiny, and how one's ability to grow is integrated with the other elements of one's life. The relative strength or weakness of one's North Node indicates the degree to which one can become what ultimately one is meant to be.
North Node in Gemini
KEYWORDS: GROWTH THROUGH USING ONE'S INTELLIGENCE; TALENT FOR COMMUNICATION AND EXPRESSION OF IDEAS; WRITING; DISLIKE OF BEING TIED DOWN; WANDERING; HASTE; SUPERFICIAL CONTACTS; EDUCATION; OVER-TRAVELLED; TEACHER/GURU FACADE; PERPETUAL STUDENT; PUBLISHING; GOOD MIND.
Your MOON'S NODE is in GEMINI, which means that you experience fulfilment in life through exploring and exploiting your mental potential. You are an intelligent person, with a love of ideas, words and literature. You feel yourself to be very much the 'free spirit', and for this reason you instinctively avoid (wherever possible) responsibilities and commitments that could entrap you. You are also something of a wanderer, always in search of the distant horizon that seems to offer greater promise than the immediate realities around you. For this reason you may spend much time travelling and 'moving on' from one experience to the next. You make many contacts in life but unfortunately they are often casual or superficial, since in your haste to experience life you rarely slow down long enough to cultivate them properly. Your real growth occurs when you begin to apply and exploit your considerable mental potential and start sharing your ideas, insights, and talents with other people. Writing, publishing, teaching, education, or involvement in community life are all areas in which you could truly stretch yourself, become involved, and develop as an individual. When you let go of your guru/teacher facade and really communicate with people, you realise you have a lot to say! You have a gift for telling stories and would make an excellent speaker, writer or presenter. Your sense of humour could draw you into comedy or entertainment. As your life progresses, you are likely to increasingly value your friends, neighbours, and even your relatives.
North Node in the 10th House
KEYWORDS: COMFORTABLE HOME LIFE VS CAREER OR PUBLIC LIFE; POTENTIAL FOR SUCCESS; FAMILY ENTANGLEMENTS; DUTY TO HOME VS DUTY TO SOCIETY; TAKEN FOR GRANTED; ACHIEVEMENT; RECOGNITION; FULFILMENT THROUGH WORK/CAREER; STAGNATION; UNDER-ACHIEVEMENT; UNCONSCIOUSLY DEPENDANT.
Your MOON'S (NORTH) NODE is in the TENTH HOUSE of your horoscope, indicating that you experience fulfilment in your life through success, recognition and achievement. The South Node in the Fourth House shows that you may have many family responsibilities that effectively tie you to the home, or limit your horizons. The North Node on the other hand shows that you secretly harbour grand dreams and a desire for fame and achievement. However, there is also a fear of success, or rather a fear of leaving what is safe, comfortable and known, and this may tempt you to set your sights in life too low, or even to deliberately 'under-achieve' or block your own potential. You may even unconsciously encourage people to depend on you in order to justify not striking out on your own course.
Having the courage to take yourself seriously, by taking the first steps towards realising your ambitions, may be daunting at first, but is empowering and exciting. You are far better equipped to deal with competition than you realise, and when you need it, confidence comes to you. You are more capable than you realise of handling responsibility and power, and should not shy away from accepting it, even if means playing a high profile role. You may be wary of exposure to the public, but secretly you would love to be widely known and admired.
North Node Conjuncts Uranus
KEYWORDS: GROWTH OF INDIVIDUALITY; UNUSUAL AND EXCITING RELATIONSHIPS; ECCENTRIC FRIENDS AND LOVERS; INVENTION; INNOVATIVE; ATTRACTION TOWARDS THE UNUSUAL; LOVE OF ADVENTURE; STUDY OF PATTERNS/RHYTHMS/MUSIC/SCIENCE ETC; EXPERIMENTAL.
Your MOON'S NODE is CONJUNCT URANUS, which indicates that you find fulfilment in life through developing your individuality. You are fascinated by patterns, cycles and rhythms, for which reason may be drawn to study or explore the various fields in which they occur, such as science, music, art, ecology, economics, astronomy, meteorology or even astrology. You have many interests, and a love for the unusual, which even if sometimes impractical to indulge always leads to new discoveries and new possibilities. You have exceptional intuition and should learn to listen to it and trust it. Friendships, meetings or relationships, which are exciting but sometimes short-lived, often serve as catalysts or awakeners in your life. You are highly inventive, and should learn to capitalise on your gifts and develop your abilities.
Uranus, Neptune and Pluto are the farthest-out planets in the solar system, and in astrology, what they represent is similarly 'far out.' Because these three planets move slowly around the zodiac, they remain in particular signs for many years. This means that their influence is more readily seen in the generation (or seven-year 'mini-generation' in the case of Uranus) in which we were born, than in the individual. We are likely to experience their effects as individuals however if we have aspects to them from the Sun, Moon and Ascendant or the three inner planets, Mercury, Venus and Mars.
Uranus symbolises that part of ourselves that is free from, or that desires freedom from, the social rules and norms symbolised by Saturn. Through Uranus we experience the exaltation of liberation, or the chaos of anarchy. If we are too attached to our own freedom or individuality however, we become disruptive, eccentric or alienated, whilst if we try to cling on to the safety of that represented by Saturn in our lives, we can become narrow, rigid, and dogmatic, our lives becoming mechanical and stale. The middle way is to value freedom and individuality whilst recognising the need for boundaries and social structures.
Neptune is the realm of the imagination, soul and unconscious mind. Through it we transcend the confines of our limited ego and experience the sacred, the unbounded or the divine. The desire to merge with something greater than the self can lead us to heaven or to hell - and to a whole host of illusions and self-deceptions in between. Experiences of disillusionment, loss, beauty, confusion or suffering can all be the catalysts that prompt us to search for the Neptunian realm, be it through drink, drugs, creativity or spirituality. In its highest form, Neptune shows us that we are an integral part of an infinite and ultimately mysterious whole.
The furthest planet in the solar system is Pluto - the god of the underworld. His is the realm of Life and Death, of the deepest and most fundamental forces around us and within us. Pluto brings destruction, breakdown, and tests of survival, but it also brings renewal, regeneration, and new life. Through traumatic experiences, we discover our deepest strengths and our deepest fears, and if we are lucky, we learn how to cope with events or experiences that are beyond our control. With Pluto we also discover that beneath the surface of life there are powerful forces for good and ill. Though we cannot control them, and like all dictators are inevitably destroyed if we do, we can ally ourselves to them in order to bring fundamental changes to the world around us.
URANUS symbolises SHOCK; CHANGE; INDEPENDENCE; THE NEW; INVENTION; REBELLION; INDIVIDUALITY; EXCITEMENT; ORIGINALITY; ECCENTRICITY; INSPIRATION; UNORTHODOXY and REFORM. It is personified by TECHNICIANS; REBELS; ALIENS; INDIVIDUALS; ECCENTRICS; ASTROLOGERS; REVOLUTIONARIES; REFORMERS, and those who are unusual or different in some way.
It is the principle of freedom and the breaking away from the rigid structures that Saturn represents. In the horoscope Uranus reveals how one expresses one's uniqueness and individuality. It's sign, house position and the aspects it makes to other planets show the nature of one's difference from the norm, the area of life in which one has to be free to go one's own way, and how one's desire for freedom is integrated with the other elements of one's life. Uranus is the first of the three 'higher octave planets', along with Neptune and Pluto, whose effects are less noticeable in the individual than in the collective, unless one is highly attuned to it by way of aspects to the inner planets or to the Ascendant. The relative strength or weakness of Uranus in the chart shows the extent to which one can free oneself of conditioning and the extent to which one needs and values freedom.
Uranus in Gemini
KEYWORDS: ENQUIRING; MOVEMENT; SHARP; WIT; ABSTRACT; MENTAL ENERGY; ORIGINAL IDEAS; QUICK COMPREHENSION; SOCIAL CRITICISM; THE MEDIA; LEARNING; WRITING; SCIENCE; COMMUNICATION/INFORMATION TECHNOLOGY.
Your URANUS is in GEMINI, which indicates that you are a member of a generation born between 1942 and 1949 whose originality expresses itself through mental and communication skills. You have a highly active mind, and like your peers you learn quickly and effectively, digesting and assimilating information with sometimes astonishing rapidity. The whole process of receiving, exchanging and discussing ideas is one that you find stimulating and exciting, and as such, discussion groups, writing, publishing, the media, email and the world wide web are a natural element of expression. You are excited by progressive ideas on education and learning, and believe in experimenting in creative ways to enrich and improve learning for both children and adults. The mind, and how communication and mental functioning can be enhanced, for instance through neuro-linguistic programming or accelerated learning, may be a subject of particular interest. Your thinking and attitudes are experimental and progressive, and you are unafraid to voice your opinions. You delight in entertaining concepts, airing them, bouncing them around and then dropping them in favour of something different. Unlike older people, you are not attached to fixed ideas and are thus unlikely to become dogmatic. You are very aware of the effects of social conditioning and the limiting effects of tradition and political suppression, and you strongly support free speech and freedom of movement. You are highly mobile and may have a love of fast cars or unusual modes of transport. A difficulty that the Uranus in Gemini generation experiences however is of too much nervous activity and too great an emphasis on abstraction and theory over direct or practical experience.
Uranus in the 10th House
KEYWORDS: UNUSUAL OR EXCITING CAREER; INITIATIVE; ENTERPRISE; SUDDEN SUCCESS; QUICKLY CHANGING PUBLIC FORTUNES; RADICAL GOALS; MANY JOBS; SPECIALISED SKILLS; ERRATIC OR CHEQUERED CAREER; ANTI-AUTHORITARIAN; ABRUPT CHANGES OF STATUS; REBELLION; SELF-MOTIVATED; RADICAL OR PROGRESSIVE PUBLIC IMAGE.
URANUS is in the TENTH HOUSE of your horoscope, which indicates that you have unconventional goals in life. You have a strong motivation to succeed, although your definition of success may not be the same as most people's. You have your own ideas about where you are headed in life and what to do for a living. You seek to follow your own star rather than do what is expected of you by society, peers, parents etc, even if this means 'breaking the mould' or being seen as a maverick. You are likely to change jobs many times and for many different reasons, and you are unlikely to settle in a job that doesn't offer stimulation, a certain amount of risk, and freedom to use your abilities in your own way. If you do follow a career, it will be marked by its abrupt twists and turns, and possibly by sudden, unexpected successes and failures. Your relationship to authority-figures can veer between tense and openly rebellious, as you dislike following orders, or doing things the tried and trusted way. You prefer to experiment, to find out for yourself. This can make you come across to colleagues and employers as arrogant, someone who knows all the answers, yet with little experience to back up your opinions. You are highly enterprising and are well suited to the role of entrepreneur. Self-employment would provide you with the challenges and freedom you seek. Your goals in life tend to change with your interests and enthusiasms. Suitable career-fields are only limited by the scope of your imagination, but would include science, technology, the movies, the arts, the media, the aerospace industry, marketing, computers. You would do well in any field that requires innovation, dynamic leadership and creativity.
NEPTUNE symbolises SPIRITUALITY; SENSITIVITY; THE AURA; MEDITATION; CONTEMPLATION; DIFFUSION; MERGING; COMPASSION IMAGINATION; TRANSCENDENCE; INSPIRATION; UNIVERSALITY; ILLUSION AND DISILLUSION; UTOPIA; IDEALISM; THE DIVINE; DREAMS; E.S.P.; DRUGS; HALLUCINATIONS; THE OCCULT; SELF-SACRIFICE; THE UNCONSCIOUS AND THE COLLECTIVE UNCONSCIOUS; MYTH; BLISS; PSYCHOSIS; WEAKNESS and DELUSION. It represents loss, transcendence or escape from one's time-bound and finite ego and absorption in something vaster and more unbounded.
Neptune is the second of the three 'higher octave planets', along with Uranus and Pluto, whose effects are less noticeable in the individual than in the collective, unless one is particularly attuned to it by way of aspects to the inner planets or the Ascendant. Its sign, house position and the aspects it makes to other planets show the nature of what one's generation is particularly sensitive to, the area of life that one is individually sensitive to, and how one's capacity to lose one's boundaries is integrated with the other elements of one's life. Its strength or weakness shows the extent to which one is able to transcend everyday reality.
Neptune Retrograde
Your NEPTUNE is RETROGRADE, meaning that when you were born, it appeared to be going backwards, meaning that for you it operates more in an internal, spiritual or imaginative way, than in an outward, self-sacrificing or idealistic way. You have a rich inner life, and higher states of consciousness, imaginative insight, and artistic perception come naturally to you. You are sometimes difficult to understand, for you tend to see the outer world in the light of your inner world, rather than the other way round. There is a danger with Neptune retrograde that you live in an unreal world of fantasy and escapism. If this is the case you should cultivate your rational and practical side so that you maintain a firm foothold in reality. Anything that cuts you off from everyday life should be treated with great caution.
Neptune in Libra
KEYWORDS: HUMANITARIANISM; IDEALISM; 'PEACE AND LOVE'; SOCIAL REFORM; ROMANTICISM; SOCIAL HARMONY; HARMONIOUS, SPIRITUAL OR CONFUSED RELATIONSHIPS; THE ARTS; 'FLOWER POWER'; HIPPIES.
Your NEPTUNE is in LIBRA, indicating that you were born into the post-war 'baby boom' generation characterised by its idealism and humanitarianism. Your generation was responsible for the 'flower power' and peace movements of the nineteen sixties and seventies, who believed that love was the answer to the world's problems. In common with your peers, you keenly feel the injustices of the world, particularly those involving the underprivileged or the defenceless, and you have the sincere desire to help right them. You may consequently be involved in causes or campaigns such as human rights, or charitable work. Like the rest of your generation, you have high ideals about love and expect a great deal from relationships. You romanticise your partners, sometimes seeing what you want to see in them. The search for 'perfect love' may not be achievable here on Earth, and can lead to disillusionment as well as to serial relationships or marriages (as witnessed by the much higher post-war divorce rate). Peace and harmony is important to you, especially in your social relationships, and you will do your best to resolve disputes. Pleasant get-togethers, friendly gatherings, and mass social activities give you a chance to feel 'togetherness' and to participate in the group mind. Beauty is vital to your generation, and it is likely that you have a keen aesthetic sense. Art, dance, film, theatre, music etc. all appeal strongly. If not creative yourself, then you probably mix with people who are.
Neptune in the 2nd House
KEYWORDS: SPECULATIVE; FINANCIAL IDEALISM; CHARITY; SPIRITUAL VALUES; IMPRACTICAL; SPIRITUAL MATERIALISM; LOVE OF BEAUTY; ARTISTIC; FINANCIALLY DEPENDANT; UNUSUAL SOURCES OF INCOME; DREAMING OF RICHES; WASTEFUL; FINANCIAL MUDDLE; DONATION; SHARING RESOURCES; FRAUD; WORSHIPPING MONEY; LOSSES; FOOLISH SPECULATION; RISKY VENTURES; CARING WORK; OVERSPENDING.
Your NEPTUNE is in the SECOND HOUSE of your horoscope, indicating sensitivity or confusion about money, material resources or values. You find it difficult to look squarely at the whole area of possessions and money, and for this reason your finances can sometimes become very confused. It is obviously very important for anyone to be able to handle the material side of their existence, but possibly more so in your case, since you tend to unconsciously assume that everything will take care of itself. In fact, some people with this position of Neptune seem to have an incredible faith that that the universe will look after their physical needs - and occasionally this actually seems to happen. You may have a sense of guilt about the whole idea of consumption, ownership and money, and be particularly sensitive to the fact that most people in the world have virtually nothing. You are also acutely aware of the effect of humanity's greed on the balance of nature and on the world's natural resources. For this reason, some people with Neptune here are very careful what they buy or are financially connected with, and some may even reject material goods altogether, or live in as simple and as unencumbered a manner as possible. Certainly, you are always willing to share what you have with others or to give what you can to a good cause. Be careful of anyone or anything that purports to be a 'once-in-a-lifetime opportunity' to get rich, as you can be susceptible when it comes to sales-pitches and glossy advertising images. Be careful of risky speculation, or the temptation to gamble; Neptune in the second tends to bring up unforeseen elements that you hadn't bargained for.
PLUTO symbolises SEXUAL ENERGY; THE ORGASM; DEATH; TRANSFORMATION; DESTRUCTION; REBIRTH; POWER; EVOLUTION; THE MASSES; REGENERATION; THE WILL; REVOLUTION; THE UNDERGROUND AND UNDERWORLD; THE UNCONSCIOUS; WAR; ATOMIC POWER; BIOLOGY; SURVIVAL; PROCREATION and CONCEPTION. It represents the process of destruction of old forms and the release of the energy inherent in them in order to create new life.
Pluto is the third and last of the 'higher octave' planets, along with Uranus and Neptune, whose effects are less noticeable in the individual than in the collective (since they move so slowly through the signs). That is, unless one is particularly attuned to it by way of aspects to the inner planets or the Ascendant. Its sign, house position and the aspects it makes to other planets show the nature of one's generation's primary orientation to life, the area of life in which one is likely to experience major transformations, and how ones' power and will integrate with the other elements of one's life. Its relative strength or weakness shows the extent to which one can regenerate and transform oneself, ones life or surroundings.
Pluto in Leo
KEYWORDS: YOUTH REVOLUTION; WILL TO POWER; BOISTEROUS; EXTERIORISATION; CREATIVE POWER; EXPLOSION OF ENERGY; SEXUAL AND ARTISTIC REVOLUTION; DYNAMISM.
Your PLUTO is in LEO, indicating that you are a member of the post war 'baby boom' generation born between 1939 and 1957 who were responsible for the great changes in society that occurred in the nineteen-sixties. Your generation has exceptional energy and an eternally youthful outlook on life that you will probably retain for the rest of your life. You were markedly different from your war-torn parents, who strongly believed in traditional values and norms. You, on the other hand were, in your youth particularly, highly rebellious and eager to enjoy life to the full, even if this meant breaking a few taboos, or a few hearts, in the process. Your generation feel deep down that life is a stage on which to express themselves, and are determined to do it as big and as dramatic a manner as possible. Rock and roll was invented by the Pluto in Leo generation, who worship the Leo-ruled virtues of youth, self-expression and love. Love affairs, sex, creativity, and even the raising of children may all be part of an almost compulsive urge to exteriorise and 'discover' yourself. The Pluto in Cancer generation finally handed over power to yours during the 1990s, bringing many sweeping changes as a consequence of the great difference in outlook and experience.
Pluto in the 12th House
KEYWORDS: INWARD TRANSFORMATION; PSYCHOLOGY; INTROSPECTION; APOCALYPTIC; COMPULSIVE; COMPLEXES; THERAPY; HIDDEN; FEAR OF DISSOLUTION OR DEATH; THE COLLECTIVE UNCONSCIOUS; UNIVERSAL FORCES; DEPTH; VOLCANIC EMOTIONS; ERUPTIONS; REVELATION; PROFOUND; SUBVERSIVE; SWEEPING CHANGES; SOCIAL REFORM.
Your PLUTO is in the TWELFTH HOUSE of your horoscope, indicating that your deepest instincts operate primarily within your own psyche. You seem in your life to be forced to confront your deepest fears and motivations, be this through introspection, or through the experience of traumatic collective experiences. You are aware of the often primitive undercurrents lurking beneath the veneer of civilisation, and of how fragile we are as a species. You are likely to have an understanding of the power of the unconscious mind, and of how 'irrational' forces can influence people's behaviour. On a personal level, you may feel that you have strong but unacceptable primitive drives, such as anger, jealousy, hatred etc. Consequently, you may try to repress what you see as ugly or dangerous within yourself, but this can be a risky option. Far better to build into your life periods when you can, within a safe emotional context, give vent to the feelings and images that well up inside yourself so powerfully. for instance, you could give form to them by painting, playing music or by sculpting or dramatising them. These aspects of your nature may also be projected onto other people, who you may have irrationally powerful reactions to, perhaps of fear, hatred or fascination. You may frequently come across situations that are undermined by unspoken feelings, hostile or poisonous atmospheres, or by back-stabbing. These reflect your sensitivity to the emotional undercurrents in the environment, and perhaps also to a fear of coming out into the open with your own feelings.
There are likely to be periods in your life when you almost compulsively seek isolation and withdrawal. This is not necessarily a negative move, as such withdrawal can herald a process of psychological purification and purgation. Such purification might involve the surfacing of feelings and memories stemming from your past, and may deepen into a confrontation with feelings and experiences that have their origin, not within yourself, but in what has been called 'the Collective Unconscious'. This is part of the collective memory of humanity itself, and contains images, feelings and symbols that are archaic, magical, and compelling. You may emerge from such a period (or periods) deeply transformed and enriched, with a new or greater sense of unity with all life, and with a commitment to helping those in need of transformation.
